Brief
History of Rubber
Rubber
is a natural substance, which is obtained from
the milky juice of Rubber Trees, often referred
to as Latex, following a process of 'tapping'.
Throughout the 19th centrury, demand spread rapidly
for this magical substance and so plantations
were established wherever the tree (Hevea brasiliensis)
would grow.
Such was the interest, that the Para rubber
tree (native to the Amazon basin), had seeds
cultivated by botanists at Kew Gardens for direct
export to Ceylon. From these early plantations,
further plants were sent to Malaysia and Indonesia,
which has ultimately lead to the modern rubber
industry we know today.
Numerous consumer products have since emerged;
Gumboots were amongst the first, ideally suited
for offshore use and the fishing industry. In
recent years, due to advances in the refining
process, we have seen many new natural rubber
products become readily available and with even
greater advances in the production of synthetic
rubbers, it has resulted in the significant
development of Neoprene.
Tayberry Muddies combine the special properties
of both rubber and neoprene to bring you flexibility,
all-day lightweight comfort and easy wipe clean
care.
Brief
History of Neoprene
Neoprene
is a type of synthetic rubber, developed in the
1930's. It has a variety of properties that make
it extremely useful, which includes being abrasion-resistant,
chemical-resistant, waterproof, buoyant and elastic.
It is also an effective insulator, providing warmth
in cold conditions.
Tayberry Muddies use the very
lastest in Neoprene technology.
The many unique qualities of
neoprene make it useful in a number of popular
products; one of the most familar is the wetsuit.
Basically, Neoprene traps water between the
wetsuit and the wearer's skin and then natural
body heat, warms the water directly against
the skin. This works to reduce heat loss from
the body, allowing someone to comfortably stay
in colder waters for a longer period of time
than would be normally expected!
Outside of the water, Neoprene
has a number of other modern day uses and is
found in diverse products, such as roofing and
protective covers for mobile telephones.
Tayberry Muddies are a harmonious
combination of Neoprene and natural rubber making
them immensely pratical, along with being the
lastest advancement in footwear technology.
